Yeah, I'm hoping he gets better, because I'm a die-hard water starter fan. I always take the little water babbies. XD
I've only played Red n' Blue on borrowed cartriages, and Black is my first full through. Yeah, water is pretty awesome, but I'd like to try a good Grass-type since few seem to like them (probably from lack of good evo's).
Never been much a fan of grass types. They're good, but grass gets a loooooot of status-effecting moves, which is not at all how I like to play my game, so grass was never good for me. The only status moves I use regularly are hypnosis and embargo.

Like playing Fallout: New Vegas as a tale of Western Revenge (spoiler warning: there's not much to the game once you've killed off your antagonist. Think if Gary had dropped out halfway through his journey. How motivated would Ash really be then?) or the whole Nuzlocke Challenge.
