So if your obsession wasn't pill bottles, but not eating that grants people the social license to think you deserve to die?

You can think whatever you want.

Fair enough. I, however, care when people die.

So do I. It's a waste. But unless we perfect some brainwashing program, you can't force people to be healthy/productive. It's up to them in the end.

You can't force people to be healthy, but you can also avoid creating/supporting messages which cause unhealthy thought patterns like, "I shouldn't eat because that will make me fat."

Yea, fighting ideas is good. But I don't go out of my way to do so. You end up arguing with people who're so far entrenched in their own ideas you make no progress. It's better to blast counter-propaganda than to engage them directly. And, again, it ends up coming down to the people choosing what to do themselves. And of all the things I could be devoting my efforts to, there are much more socially-impacting issues at hand. Which I can afford to do, because there are people like you who'll work on fringe problems in society.
