Might as well take a stab at the mini-contest, since this was fun to read and think about. ^-^

1. Who is the main character?

I have a few main characters in Spades, the book I'm currently developing, but I'll pick Stilts because these next questions made me think of him. Stilts is a resident of the steampunk city of Readlyn. He's the only offspring ever known of to come from a union between one of the strange, silent dwarf-workers that run the city's underground and a human, and is generally ostracized on both sides because of this. He never knew his parents, and is an extremely bitter guy because of this background; his only friend is Godi, an FMC, and he doesn't identify her as such at the time of the first book.

:bulletblack: What kind of distinguishing facial features does your character have?
Stilts has unusually large and sensitive-to-light eyes, product of his dwarf heritage, but he's darker than a dwarf (they're extremely pale). He tends to narrow his eyes almost constantly because of this, adding to his angry look. Other than that he looks reasonably normal - strong nose, thin mouth, short brown hair - and what people notice most about him is that he's very short, only around 4' 11''.

:bulletblack: Does your character have a birthmark? Where is it? What about scars? How did he or she get them?

No birthmark, but Stilts has a lot of scars. Small ones crisscrossing his hands from the work he does with machinery, several larger ones on his lower left leg from where it was trapped once. Also stretch-mark like scars on his arms, legs and neck - you see, the dwarves were named so because they were very short, but pure dwarves have the ability to stretch themselves taller if they really need to. Stilts inherited some of the tightly packed muscle and oddly-structured bones needed for this - but not the skin, so if he attempts to do it his skin begins to stretch painfully and almost rip. On the plus side, the tightly-packed stuff makes him extremely strong.

:D Sorry if that's a bit of a long reply, but I love character questions. Oh, and on the theme of originality - Stilts was originally inspired by the age-old tale of Rumplestiltskin. So take heart. :P
