Hmm. Well it's a big explanation, but it mostly has to do with clans.
In my comic I refer to Night Furies as Shadows, unless it is humans refering to them.
There are actually 3 main groups:
The Southern Shadows, Sea Shadows, and Northern Shadows. The South will be a regular warm climate, Sea: coast and underwater, north: snow, ice, and mountains.
The Rebels will show up later in my story. They do not support any side and they accept any fury, no matter what clan they come from.
Then there are the lower classes, which are clans such as the Forest Shadows.
Hope it's not too confusing ^^'
Choose any side, except for Sea, since they requite gills...and will be, well, gone soon.

I have to say, Nirvana would probably be a Rebel XD But she wouldn't admit to it(she can't stand labels).
The way she is, she's not anyone's sidekick or messenger. She HATES humans and if it weren't for Toothless, she'd have killed Hiccup on sight.
However, although fair in attitude toward any other dragon(unless they steal from or attack her), she prefers to carry out tasks herself as she works better that way. She's more of a leader.
Saying all that, she sounds positively evil or selfish XD
But she can be all cuddly and curious like any Night Fury in the movie.
