you're welcome :meow:
that's pretty darn good for just winging it! I've never really had much in the way of lesson with watercolors either XD

I suppose all the years of practice have paid off. ;P I used watercolors for years and then discovered acrylics. That was my medium of choice for a long time. I still like them just because it is so easy to fix a mistake. But now I have been inspired by :iconkuoma: and her lovely watercolors and I've gotten back into it again. :D If you haven't seen her work, go check out her gallery.

ah. I'd like to get into acrylics, but I was never able to work with the texture of the paints XD
and wow, her gallery is just... amazing beyond words :faint:

Acrylics aren't hard to work with. There are several different additives that you can use to thin them out, extenders, blending mediums, floating mediums...and others. You can use them somewhat like watercolors as well, the main difference being that once dry, they can't be blended again. That's when the extenders come in handy as they extend the drying time a bit.

I thought you'd like her gallery. :)

Just so you know, the acrylics I generally use are the bottled type, ie. Folkart brand, Decoart brand, or others of that type. They're the ones I learned with and they tend to be a bit less thick than the tube variety. I do use the others as well now, but those are the ones that I started with, and they are also the brands that carry the various extra mediums ie. extenders, floating mediums etc. They have lots of colors to choose from and can be bought in most Dollar stores around here anyway. The blending mediums and such you can find in Walmart or arts and craft supply stores. I've even bought some of my brushes at the Dollar store. Not the crappy little kindergarten type,(you know the ones I mean) ;P but they do sometimes carry some better brands.
Hope that helps. :D
