Maybe it is the toy itself? Have you seen it unmodified/unpainted? Aside from the white, all of the colors I added were darker than what he had.
I intentionally went with a streaky thin orange on the wings so they would look decrepit, and also because they are rubber and I don't want to put on enough acrylic paint to form a soft shell that can tear.

yea i have seen the original... now that i have a picture of it up i can definitely see that this paint job IS much darker, it just doesn't feel that way. To much contrast here? Perhaps its the red, to much of it and in places it shouldn't be?
I honestly can't say exactly what i find off putting about this. If i could figure out myself what I'm not liking about it i would leave you some constructive criticism. But i don't even know myself!

Haha no problem. BTW he has no red on him though. I used international orange and his plastic color is a yellow-orange. The white backgrounds sometimes make dark things too dark and intensify colors. Just something gay about my camera I guess.
