This is only one potential theory of many that I have considered. Most people do take the character at face value; even I do most of the time.

I think what I mean by all this is not to dismiss or ignore Aku's evil, but to explain how even the purest evil doesn't start that way. There are a lot of ways Samurai Jack can be analyzed, it's full of symbolism and metaphors for history, industrialization, human nature, etc. despite being a seemingly simple action series.

Even in this "headcanon" any feelings of sadness or dejection are clearly destroyed and replaced with hate and anger. If Aku ever felt those feelings in the first place, they are definitely long gone by the time he's resurrected in Episode I. ^^;

Thank you for the compliments on the art tho, I really appreciate it <3 I'm still proud of this even though it's fairly old by my standards :)

Yin and Yang man, good and evil cannot exist without the other.

Indeed, the show offers much more than most folks give it credit for.

It's interesting to see other interpretations of a character most of us immediately deem as straight up evil. :)
