There are number of stories in it, but not as well-coordinated as planned; it's as if they are contemplating on wandering off on their own. But I'm my own worst critic so I can't really tell what works and what doesn't. When you stared at the same imagery for hours, you'll become 'immune' to it in terms of it's visual impact. I'm very much at the viewer's mercy to know if the art makes the cut ;p
So, your input is an extension to an artist's visual sense; glad to hear yours! :w00t:

Now you're just trying to make me blush. And I'm glad to help.

I'm barely starting to enter that phase where one becomes blind to their own work after hours of dedication. I got a Tomb Raider image I intend to upload myself, I know I'm late but I intend show my hard work regardless.

Hope the option to submit in that Contest category is still open, or else just the regular categories.

If you read my profile front page, I enlisted few tips to improve your craftmanship by eliminating much errors as possible. The best and most used technique my professionals is to flip your canvas horizontally to see your art in a fresher view. You'll be surprised with so much areas for improvement found.

I probably won't make it on time. I don't much care regardless.

Thanks, I'll most likely read it.

Actually the judging of the entrees is shambolic, lots of great artist didn't make it. What really disappointing is the lesser arts got into the semi finals, 1-2 are blatant copy of the official promo art. I know another 50 artworks that is of supreme quality that should have gotten through ^^;
Mine included lol ;p

So just forget about it and take your time and submit your Lara art at your own accord, make sure it's not a rushed work :nod:

I know what you mean, some of the top 25 are just boring. 1st place made perfect sense to me. I love their perspective, Lara looked like Lara, and its exciting to look at.

I intend to take my time. After I realize I wouldn't finish on time, I took one step back to add an extra element of excitement.

I understand your tips listed on your page, but have yet to visit that webpage. I was looking for more tips on stylization. My art tends to look more like sculptures and stands out in a way I don't like.

IMO 1st and 3rd well deserved, the 2nd winner is really a curveball by dA, can't believe my 100+ hours work got beaten by that ^^;

Yes, what you really mean is to make your art looking more organic?
Interestingly, this is what I have to face on every single artwork of mine, I like that 3D video-game-y feel but trying not to make it looking like a 3D art.
This has a lot to do with blending the subject matter with the background.

I literally 'sculpt' the characters first, then half way through progress I start to really merge and paint everything as one unit.
Btw, what apps do you use? I may assist you in most Photoshop painting tricks I've learnt.

Sounds like you know what I mean.

I use a wacom tablet on cs3.
