Talking about blood and guts fantasy...I recently found 4  box sets - second, fourth and sixth season of our favourite neighbourhood serial killer, 'Dexter.'

Dexter Morgan to give him his full title. I don't know why, but I find this guy really funny, one minute he's giving his adorable baby boy, Harrison his bottle and tucking him in with a bedtime story, all wholesomeness and apple pie American dad...

The next scene sees him all satanic-like, with plastic head visor, rubber apron and buzzing chain saw, chopping up some trussed up super baddie that he's managed to grab from the jaws of Miami's homicide cops...

Then we have the comic voice over, saying something like... "This guy thought I'd come to arrest him, little does he know..." and so on.

The book I told you about... The one on sadistic ancient Romans soaking terrified children with blood so the lions would rip them to bits in front of their Christian parents first, was not funny at all...

It really happened, and why? so that jaded Romans could get off on this heavyweight sadism and not question or criticise their corrupt, inept leadership. Rome was destroyed in the end, like all militaristic, materialistic super powers in history.
