Nice tutorial but I have seen this 'head count' taught before many times but after a while it becomes obsolete as when your using non traditional poses like example many of spidermans and Naruto's poses. The body is no longer in a head count position but hopefully by the time many try poses like that they have become more familiar with proportions to where the 'head count' is no longer needed
Yeah, this "head count" thing is more like a proportion training, after some practice you don't need it anymore, it becomes natural. Nowadays I only use this in the character development for my stories, it is useful to define a fixed height, and more importantly, the height of a character compared to the others.
