I'm a vegan, and yes, they have done all manner of fucked-up things (their killing of healthy dogs and cats (the cat killing is especially heinous, because they'll literally have people go out, trap healthy cats who just happen to not have homes, and kill them, even though unlike dogs, cats are perfectly fine living outdoors independent of humans; it'd be one thing if they were trapping them, just to spay/neuter them, and then letting them go, but nope), their misogynistic (and sometimes racist) campaigns, just latching onto anything in the media to bring attention to themselves (not even the cause; just THEM), etc.). It annoys me that people now seem PETA as the face of veganism/animal rights, because they definitely shouldn't be.
