Yes, but almost no one knows about that. The only reason I know about Discworld is due to an internet reviewer I watch. All I was saying, was that Game of Thrones has successfully thrust fantasy into the forefront of the mainstream. It's success has shown T.V. executives that yes, they can take chances with more fantasy material. So yeah, I was off about Wheel of Time getting a T.V. series first, but I'm willing to admit I was wrong on that front. Still, when Discworld gets it's T.V. series, it will be due to Game of Thrones success, same with every other fantasy T.V. show to follow. And is that really a bad thing?

It's not a bad thing but you don't have your facts straight.

Song of ice and fire would not have sold as well as it did had not Lord of the rings been made in to films and taken the world by storm.
Before Lord of the rings fantasy wasn't a genre to be taken seriously. people used whool and nittedd and then sprayed it with silver paint wen they were to film chainamail.
Game of thrones wouldn't be if not LotR paved way and can't be named the force behind fantasy's mainstreem acceptance.
I can give them thr rivival after Eragon killed it for the genre on the screen. but I can't give it more than that.

And you ask your fellow fantasy loving firends and a lot of them will know of Discworld. it's a huge fenominon but it's a bit of an acuierd taste and doesn't tickle everyones fansy, too much satire and dry humour i guess. I really enjy and adore Game of thrones, I do. it's a great show.

I can only imadgen what Ledgend of the seeker feelt when they saw what people could do.

Well of course in general LOTR definitely got everyone hyped, and proved a lot. It was and still is a phenomenon, but I was talking of the small screen in everyone's living room. (I should have been more clear on that, that again is my fault.)  No doubt LOTR deserves respect, and it did help get GOT on T.V. Still, and I will admit this is petty on my part, I don't like LOTR. I don't know why, but I find it bland, and boring. It made me hate Fantasy in general, and I didn't watch, or read anything related to fantasy until I started watching GOT with my youngest brother. Now I am reading the first book in ASOIAF, and I am caught up on the entire GOT series. And I will admit my personal prejudice toward LOTR, made me turn my nose up at GOT when it first came on the air. Now I see that was a huge mistake. I still don't know why I hate LOTR, but I don't let it get in the way of my enjoyment of other Fantasy novels, and shows.

I might have to check out Discworld. As soon as I'm caught up on ASOIAF, I will probably check out Discworld.
