Some days it hurts my hand too, so I rarely make thread crochet. I have lots of respect for people who make miniature crochet all the time...

I revise my previous statement, my smallest hook is 3.25mm. It's not pain, I literally can't get tiny steel hooks to work. I try to make loops and it drops the stitch. I have loads of respect for the tiny crocheters as well.

Have you tried steel hooks by different makers? Small differences in shape can make a completely different experience. I was lucky with my steel hooks, but with regular hooks I had to test several brands with comfort handle until I found the one I truly like. With others, when I was working fast, they would split the yarn, or drop the stitch, or drag the yarn etc.

I just can't keep hold of the yarn with it, and it's approximately the same shape as what I'm used to with my aluminum hooks. the tiny hooks don't like me.

Sorry to hear that! Anyway, that means maybe less projects on the "absolutely must crochet this" list... mine is about a mile long and keeps growing. :D

nope, doesn't make the list any shorter. also, my stash is getting unreasonable for a dorm room.

The nature of stash is that it just keeps growing. Bet they are preparing for world dominion :)

fortunately, being a student makes me poor, which means it won't grow any larger for a while (at least until christmas. people have a tendency to gift me yarn)
