This picture is just so full of feeling - the rain, the mist, the shadows. Even the mud is atmospheric. The figure's pose is interesting as in my eyes it conveys a feeling of weariness, but the spotlight behind adds the essence of an indomitable will to carry on, walk forward to meet the next challenge.
The weapon looks like a cross between a warhammer and a halberd, which is somewhat unusual in a religious fighter - usually paladins carry swords of some sort or another, on occasion an axe or mace, or perhaps a hammer like Thor's. I like it though, because it just seems to fit - almost as if this particular paladin is a little bit maverick. The hat just adds to that impression.
