I heard story about Czech woman at French coast: She went to water, she was swimming as usual and when return, she was surprised by a big crowd of French people, applauding her courage, because she swam "so fast"! And "so far"!

That makes so much sense, I also get the feeling that people living next to the sea don't swim very far.....it's a shame.
