Disregarding my previous comments, I've come to a sort of realization that this is a potentially good way to place Chrysalis in a position to be "redeemed". One word just came to my mind recently, "sympathy". Place a story's villain into a circumstance where he/she/they become the victims of a massive tragedy, be it a freak natural disaster or near total destruction from a different villain (preferably one that is much more evil/malefic), which makes them fall to the weakest they could get... sympathy/care from the protagonists could (at least in my opinion) put said villain on to a path that allows proper redemption without ruining the villain's character.

For example; replace the shadowed guard ponies with say demons (like the ones from DnD who are destruction incarnate), give Chrysalis plus a small group of her subjects (for the sake of those who have changeling oc's and such) a means of escaping certain death, then have them flee to Equestria where they could hide themselves, only to found still badly injured later on by the mane six, and I think it just might work.

If anyone believes this COULD BE a good idea story-wise, please tell me what you think.
