its kind of a backhanded compliment, but i did mean it as a compliment. Just, if you want to emulate red and blue sprites, you gotta have the same sort of bad spriting going on
Hehe maybe I'm using more of a mixed approach, not really aiming for a strict imitation. I like the graphic limitations size-, and colour wise, and I draw inspiration from the style - at least on the parts of it that I like. But otherwise, I just make what I like/am able to do

Thats generally what i do, ive done a few different sprites of my own fakemon in sprite styles of all 5 gens

And yes, to me it's more fun to do it that way - it leaves more room for imagination and you, as the artist, ought to like the end result more
