Oh, wow! I was told by a couple hunters that this was an elk, I assumed that they would know better than I. However, I believe you are correct. The comparison is quite clear in showing the differences. The place where I found the skull was near an elk preserve, so I assumed (after asking a couple hunters) that she was probably poached and dumped. The dump site is still a little suspicious to me, maybe even more so now that it is not an elk. The skull was quite apparently hidden, and there were not other remains near it. Just a head.
