I think the Arkham games have adopted that origin, based on the DLC they'll release for Ninja Bruce Wayne, and the emotional trailer they released a while back.

Not quite. In the comics Bruce did train under people affiliated with the League Of Assassins/Shadows, but never directly with them, and the game is more or less going with that (albeit with the possible idea he adopted the gauntlets/scallops he uses as Batman from this training, like in the Nolan films).

The Arkham games use Kirigi, who was one of his mentors in the comics and has trained a few League Of Assassins members.
Though he DOES also meet Shiva during his training in the Arkhamverse and she is implied to be working directly for Ra's Al Ghul in the main game to test Batman's worth as an heir, so it's possible Ra's became aware of Bruce/Batman via his training prowess.

Yeah I played through the DLC recently - loved the way they handled it! :D. Whether Bruce was actually in the league, or learning methods of the league through a different party - I think the idea is the same. You have to think and behave like evil ninjas to defeat them. That's what Batman's all about - taking someone else's ideas, and turning it against them :P.

On a side note, the battle with Shiva was so epic!! It was also fun hearing the ninjas speak in Korean - I was able to understand the things they said :). "Show yourself you foreign bastard!!" hahaha, oh man, so good.

Basically yeah.
I mean heck, in the DLC, Kirigi is downright amazed that he is passing his tests, without actually killing ANYONE. Everyone else is encouraged to be as brutal as possible, but Bruce clears every obstacle whilst keeping to his code.

And well, I personally think Shiva could have been better and more impressive combat-wise, but they do justify it in-story, in that she's not actually trying to kill Bruce. And wow, that is a fun bonus. Makes me wish I could speak other languages.
