I'm my opinion, just like there isn't a completely and utterly new story line out there (only overall, reused themes and plots with original twists), there are no character designs that are completely original. It's a bit annoying for people to constantly say characters are rip-offs or they look JUST LIKE THIS OTHER ONE, etc, because what matters isn't just the design, but the story, personality, and context of them all.

I say, if it looks like them, so what? You can't expect something ridiculously new after hundreds and thousands of years artists and writers have been creating characters. It's perfectly possible to have a twist to make them stand out, but overall? There's really not much else you can do. However, the real problem occurs when characters might have too much in common with another in design, personality, or both.

So far, I can't judge too much based on the designs alone, but the characters are pretty much stand-alone, even if the similarities between Asami and Tabitha are much more apparent. There's my rant for you :3

rip-off. That sounds creepy :o
I like what you write about originality itself. I think a lot of people miss that fact. Design and haircolour is one but the whole story, music, voices - only all of them together makes something being alive and might make something original.
thank you for your opinion

Exactly. It's a pretty far-fetched example, but it happens in the real world as well. Twins, whom tend to have very different personalities, shine through that uniqueness. Your commissioners and you shouldn't worry too much about how "alike" characters look. Everyone should see the differences and the small, unique details that make a character original, not the similarities based on the design archetypes.

You're welcome ^^ and yes, rip-off sort of sounds creepy
