How far have you gotten in that? 
Midway thru season 3. I like Martha better than Rose but the eps and the way they use Martha are still not catching me. I'm really going because I know for a fact that I love Donna and I'm just waiting to get up to her coming back. And also because I KNOW I love season 5 and so it's worth keeping going.

I have to admit, I prefer Rose to Martha, but then again, I like absolutely nothing about Martha, expect for a few of her episodes, and the fact that she is darn pretty... But that's about it.
I can see it. It's a bit of a toss-up and I blame the fact that they decided to write Martha off as a rebound. Which may be why I like her more than Rose... because (I will now attract the flames of the masses) I don't like Rose. At all. I won't go into why, it's not worth it and I don't like to insult the character knowing how many fans she has and how they can be verrrry loyal, so it's just one person's opinion and matters zilch. Anyway I feel for Martha, feel like she had potential that was missed, they completely threw it away by having her fall for the Doctor for no apparent reason (because he kissed her? was that it?) and be jealous of every time he mentions Rose. 
It's just kind of petty. Donna's Christmas ep was *deeply* refreshing for her intense personality. 
Want more Catherine Tate!

I have to admit, there are times where I can find Rose a tad annoying, but in general I like her... Or rather, I like her interaction with the doctor (both Eccleston and Tennant), but even more so, I LOVE how she is mentioned in the conversations between the Doctor and Donna, because Donna reacts EXACTLY as she ought to. It's hard to explain, so I hope you'll see it yourself in due time...
Martha on the other hand... I don't know if she ever had a chance. I never found much personality in her, other than pining for the doctor, so I don't know if they could have done much more her. Had they fleshed her out and maybe given her more personality... And not made her fall for the Doctor 'cause that just keeps bugging me over and over again.
And gaaaaaaaaaaah Donna... Donna is perfect.
Speaking of Catherine Tate, have you seen "Much Ado About Nothing" where's she starring with Tennant... It is PRECIOUS!
