They had almost reached the flower place when Birchcloud realised he couldn't wait any longer, he'd already been waiting for his own Ceremony, for the time to catch some time with her alone. There was nobody around now, he should just tell her, he needed to tell her so he at least had some form of closure on all of what had been running through his head these last three or four moons.
"Kestrelflight," he sped up to move ahead, turning to block their path, guiltily backing down just in case his movement had been taken as aggressive. He caught himself for a moment in her eyes and the markings around her eyes, they were his favorite part of her wonderfully unique patterns, helping to highlight every vibrant spark that flicked across her amber gaze.
"Kestrelflight" he repeated, clearing his throat, hoping that he didn't sound scared, because he knew he was, his heart was pounding violently in his chest and all he wanted to do was lay his ears flat against the back of his head and runaway, but it was equally matched by his drive to finally tell her how he felt.
"I-I'm not great with words, but I'd really like you to hear me out and feel free to react in complete honesty," he paused to find the right wording for his next speech, "I... I mean you can't be... no... I've felt for a long time now that there's been some sort of bond between us, on my part it has always felt like something beyond friendship, my feelings for you are greater than the feelings I know I could have for any other, I wanted to wait until I was a Warrior before I told you that I... that I love you."
He finished, closing his mouth quickly before he added something embarrassing and weird like how he wanted to be able to curl up next to her when they were both Elders, or hoped that one day they would have a Litter of their own like Mossfire had or something like that.
