Ravenor and Eisenhorn were both good series in their own rights and I am excited for when Ravenor Vs. Eisenhorn will continue. Ravenor certainly is inspiring though because he's a good fictional example of how one can always be a hero.I think that the will to protect others is a very empowering thing and a lot of characters could be heroes because what's the alternative?A brutal and painful death?Somehow I doubt many of the well meaning characters would let that stand and it truly says something for their willpower(Look how willingly Mace goes into Wisp's hideout so that he might do some good or how Lilith musters up courage against Tendril)I do have a question since you're a Warhammer fan;what do you think of how GW is running it nowadays?

Some would say, the conclusion is: Know no fear, to be a hero. But that is taken without context and Guillaume would be ashamed. It is your willpower and goal that makes you immune to fear. You overthrow it. And you should never rely on hope but on facts. Look at Lillith. She starts to be a real hero after she loses the fear for Tendril and points for her goal. She relied on facts, she tricked him...and didn't focus on mere hope and some shivery prayers. After rethinking, Lillith could be a good interrogator.
I regret to admit, but GW seems to run on money nowadays, that's all. The figurines getting more and more expensive, strange new inventions that are as fast published even the newest books couldn't cover them up and silly monthly sets like a whole Ultramarine chapter for the price of a new car. Okay, GW, would totally buy it. Here, take my life insurance. The only good thing was to bring the publishing and translations under their own control and away from Heyne in Germany. Heynes translations were...eh...sometimes pretty silly. The Black Library books are equal the price of the old books, have a fold-out page for the front picture and are much more durable.
And the amount of colors freak me out. Come on, special colors for dry brushing? You dun need that. I hope good authors keep the 41th millenium alive, like Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill or Ben Counter.

Lilith could be like the female Thonius you know?As for GW I want them to succeed especially when it's hard for them to compete against XBOX's and so on and yet although I love their properties they've done so much to eliminate good will, don't listen to fans.and drive prices to the bleeding edge.I really want them to be successful yet nowadays there's a good reason why there are not many new players.I just wish they would modernize a bit more and realize how much more competition they have nowadays(and with decent minis too no less!)and make some adjustments to the way they do business on the higher levels. On the store levels at least I love my hobby store and owner and will support it until the end yet the upper management just seems disconnected with what makes the hobby fun and brings people in.I know that I know nothing of running a company like that and there's a thing called inflation making things more pricey yet all these new price increases are just driving away less customers.Anyways enough of my ranting.Judging by your description of the format of books it sounds like you've been reading the new reissues of the Horus Heresy series so who's your favorite character?I quite liked how flamboyant and honorable Sanguinius was although Garro was really cool too...Can't quite decide between the two.
