How are you prepping it? plastic primer to get it smooth? And is it PLA plastic? The makerbot 2 only does PLA, but maybe it's at 2x.
Ah, maybe it's a different machine that he's using, but I know there's a Makerbot2 in there somewhere! It's definitely ABS plastic and it cleans up pretty well with sanding and filling with bondo glaze putty
