I like Hoggle! I don't think it's meant to be a serious movie- it was made to be a kid's movie, but that makes the underlying sexuality and ambiguity of Jareth's motives all the more... Well, odd. If this were a book, it would beg some serious literary analysis. No wonder there's so much Labyrith fanfiction out there... Which I'm sorry to say I abstain from reading due to the sickening amount of JarethxSarah romance (shudder).

Have you read the book ' Howl's ' by Diana Jones ? ( you gotta read the book ! )
Oh yes, I read it before I knew of the movie because it just so happens that Diana Wynne Jones is one of my favorite authors ever! If you haven't read "The Darklord of Derkholm" (satirical and hilarious) or "Deep Secret," you must. HMC wasn't one of her best books in my opinion, but when I heard Miyazaki was doing a film version, my interest was piqued. Whaddya know, it's now one of my favorite movies! Howl's such an endearing character. I've been meaning to do some fan art (not that I have the time), but not anime style- I despise anime. Except for HMC, of course.

Here's one for you ~ I was drifting over into doing some Howl's realted stuff ( which some of this is, just not explicitly ) and a scene I'd picked out was the fireworks fesitval { this was in the book, there's a festival at ' Market Chipping ' and the castle comes and shoots some fireworks off too, remember that ? } But ; then I stopped and realized someting about that scene, can you guess what I might have realized ? [ you win an internet if you do ! ]
I haven't seen the anime yet ( yes most non-Miyazaki anime gives me a headache too { although you might like to watch ' Dragon Half ' sometime, maybe you have Netflix or something, is from the 80s, that was the funniest thing I'd ever seen }

Oh goodness, I remember the scene, but I read it quite awhile ago... Does it have anything to do with Labyrinth??
Howl's has a lot to do with Labyrinth yes ~ but that scene, just think about painting it and you might suddenly realize the same thing I did
