As experts on animal heads, the way they look, zoology, and in this case baby dragon heads Fluttershy and I both agree that the way you drew Spike all snuggly wuggly in his cute little bed is parfait mademoiselle! (Also apparently there are french speaking ponies in Equestria)
(PS you do NOT suck at drawing Spike!! He looks very cute and peaceful here and his head spines and cute wittle claws look top quality. I mean otherwise I wouldn't say it!)

I think it works though. When someone sleeps they're usually bundled up "all snugly wugly" haha
