i heard people say that all the time "i burn my baked goods all the time!" to be honest, i can't understand the reason why would anyone burn their cookies, cupcakes, cakes and lists goes on and on...

baking is all about science, as long as all the "components" all matched up, you shall never burn them ever again. a working oven, your leavening agents is current, and baking time is set correctly, that's about it!

To be fair, I burned the cookies because I thought that the "cake test" theory would work the same for cookies. So, I stuck a cake tester into a batch of cookies and thought that if it came out clean that it meant they were baked properly, but the tester came out tacky each and every time. Naturally, I thought that the cookies weren't done and kept in longer which in turn made the bottoms burnt and hard as a rock, lol. This is why I'm not trusted with baking. :P

thank you for sharing your baking experience with me, i must admit i have never heard people "test" the doneness when baking cookies...to avoid the bottoms getting burnt and hard, you could do the followings -  1) place the baking rack in the middle of the oven or 2) some merchants sells the insulted cooking baking sheet, no burns ever! or 3) bake with a silk pad or 4) lastly if you do not have the insulted baking sheet or silk pad, you could always double up the aluminum foil.
