Appreciate it, Tim! I may shave it down a bit on the side with a loop tool. I don't think it will take much. Part of it is how I have the mask covering the ears. I wanted to add features under the mask for realism and it can make the head look a bit wider. I wish it was already casted, so that I could paint it! I don't have any experience doing a full sculpt like this and I know I've basically got one shot with something this small and fragile. I may send it off, but I'm kind of scared it will get damaged or warp a bit if placed in a hot place.

I would like to have at least one or two sculpt mass produced and have my name on a box..That would be really cool and make all the work worth it, but I just don't know if I'll be able to hit a deadline bc I work crazy hours and can have things pop up and have to work without much of a warning. It would definitely be high stress. I spoke to Erick a few times on the phone a while back and he did say he'd like to work with me one day and would like a statue, but he may have just been being nice. It's been a while.

Personally Chris, I'd just putty up the head and let the shrink do the work and that way you can keep the ears!

Maybe...I'm not sure how much repair work that would cause and if it would still line up with the neck. I still need to try out the new hulk cast with the uncast castilene hulk heads and see if it lines up. I may just cast the spider head in tms wax if I don't shave the side of it with a loop tool. I do however want a larger head to show spidermans shorter stature. I don't want him to look 6' 3" or something. Head size can sort of do that...though I don't think a 3-4% shrink would risk that...we'll see.

I wish I had more time, but I feel my real job would interfere. I'd rather someone just pick up and produce a sculpt I've already finished than be on a deadline with all that pressure. It may kill sculpting for me altogether.

Should be a terrible bind if you have a wax pen. just chop n stitch, Frankenstein stylie! lol. I'm pretty fearless when it comes to chopping , I think you have to be , like Alfred P says- 'fearless correction' but I get what you are saying about height. A teen shape is tricky specially a muscular one so don't get me wrong, what you got is just fine. It's artistic choice in the end. I often want to do 7 heads but all the stuff seems 8 to 10 even.

I have a wax pen, though it's now busted. Its a little faster, but the chop and stitch isn't so much the worry as the neck being narrower or thicker than before (depending on where I cut). I'd have to build that part up again or adjust it in some way if the entire head and part of the neck or base of the head is smaller..I just don't know to what degree it will be an issue. I've also got some veins in the neck as well. The castilene and dirt really hides some of the detail..: / I may try it as I said in tms...but I can't say I'm not a little concerned...working in a scale this small definitely has it's drawbacks, but as you said it pays to be fearless.
Make or buy a hot wire tool. Mine is just wire that I wrap around a shaped other bit of wire and heat over a flame. Makes nice clean cuts. A cheap battery one would be better I reckon. Guess they would be easy to make too. But I tend to be a tad lazy......lol....
Just go with your gut, if you are unsue then d nothing. I learned that when I lost the lil Punisher trying to putty up the head ,only to find it was off and didn't cure!! bummer! That's why I started the wax one.

Lol I'm sorry to hear that about the punisher. I may make a block mold in the next few weeks, but right now I've got to get back to the Hulk. There's a lot of holes and dents caused from the castilene transfer that I have to get out or fill. I tried hot sanding and it helped, but I'm going to have to drip and fill a lot of sections to get back to where I was before the transfer. However, I am happy to not worry about cracking and breaks anymore. I also should be able to put on a good bit more detail. I'd like to put a pattern on the pants and maybe correct some of the proportions around the knees. I think it will turn out much better than the last pic if I'm able to get it back to where I left off.

I liked hot sanding but the pad don't last too long do they? not too cheap either. A cheap hobby this aint!!!!

oh and I get ya on the deadline thing too. I'm sure any kits you do will do well. I would try but don't feel my work is worth it yet plus it's the cost. I have to weigh up each spend at present.
