DA is a business. DA gives you the global audience you want for your art and whatever else. You've had no problems with that for how many years? All of a sudden you need a fake reason to not use the site? That's dumb.
You don't avoid FaceBook because it's run in this or that country, you avoid it because it sucks. The same goes for many other sites. But DA doesn't necessarily suck, you're just injecting imaginary political bullshit into your decision.
