I tend to put together last minute ideas, too. It's interesting to know why people choose their names, especially when they keep them for so long. I have a friend who changes her screen name all the time. I tend to lose track of her that way. XP

I guess I'm lucky that I thought up a name and liked it enough to stick with it. I did go through a few before I came up with mine, but that was before I was on DeviantArt. Sounds like your friend is still in the process of finding her online "identity" so to speak.
I just think she's fickle when it comes to names. I gave her a perfectly good nickname and still call her that to this day, but she doesn't want to use it for her screen name.

I like mine a lot and I have started to develop enough popularity that people will recognize me across websites. The nice thing about this name is that it's unique, so it's not already taken on most places.

Same here. My name isn't taken most places, making it easier for me. I don't think I'll change mine because people are starting to recognize my artwork with my name, even if I think up a better name.
I still like mine and don't think I would change it. It's simple, pretty, and can be used professionally. I may even use it as a pen name someday.
