I agree with you. If she was a reincarnation of an old mare, and she found out, she will probably not like that fact.

If reincarnation was real, she'd be unique in her own right, just older than she thinks she is.
Ok, maybe, but still, it just, she will still be that old mare revived and just appears younger than she really is. I think it kinda cruel. Just let the old mare die, than she will be in a better place, and if there is somepony like her born, at least, it is still a different pony, just same personality. She might look different, though.
