The background could as well have been painted, at first I thought it was a painting until I saw in your description it's a photo

I don't think the horse is too dark, It could mimic the hard times that the reciever is going through. I love how you have illuminated around the pegasus similar to every dark cloud has a silver lining. The clouds are spectacular too. Good choice! No, Great choice! I am just in awe of your work, but then again, I have told you that before.
