I've always found it interesting that Western dragons are usually some degree of evil, at least in traditional lore, while Eastern dragons have much more of a capacity for kindness and compassion. I really like the playfulness of this dragon, and the light reflecting off his scales is lovely. How big is the physical drawing? The detail is so fine!

It's pretty large, I actually taped 2 pieces of mixed media paper together to fit it. Not necessarily the best way of going about it, but it made scanning a lot easier.

While they are in no ways inherently evil, I do plan to make these dragons pretty menacing.

That makes sense! Out of curiosity, what type of scanner do you use? I've been wanting to acquire a larger scanner for some time now, but most are way out of my price range, and any affordable ones usually have awful reviews.

Menacing is good :3 I do like menacing dragons.

I'm just musing here, but perhaps dragon morality in general works very much the way faerie morality does in some mythologies. They're kind of above or beyond human concepts of good and evil, and they work by their own code.

The scanner I have right now is just a crummy scanner attached to a printer. It's way too small for the scale I work, so it's a pain. I'm saving up to get one of these: www.amazon.com/Mustek-A3-1200S…

Oooh, that's shiny. Definitely just added that to my Amazon wish list :)
