Excuse my lack of knowledge but what show is this.
Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. It's by CLAMP, the same group of writer/artists who made Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, Magic Knights Rayearth, Angelic Layer, and a few others. It's mainly about an alternate-universe pair of characters (originally from Cardcaptor Sakura) traveling through parallel worlds, in which pretty much every character they have ever drawn appears in alternate-universe form. Tsubasa overlaps chronologically with xxxHolic (also an anime by CLAMP) and has tie-ins to it, although xxxHolic is much darker and more stand-alone.

When Mokona spits out some random object, it's coming from a world the Tsubasa crew is in. When they talk about Syoran, or that [SPOILER] of xxxHolic is some weird, shadow-version of someone else, they're referring to Tsubasa's heroic male lead.Or if you know OF xxxHolic and haven't watched/read it, nevermind the above two lines. You already know all you really need to know. ^_^
