The activists are back at it again. "OH NO! APRIL'S CALF WAS BORN IN CAPTIVITY AND HE'LL NEVER EXPERIENCE THE NATURAL LIFE HE NEEDS!!!" Okay, I agree that live streaming the birth was a little disturbing, but come ON. I bet if April was in the wild, the birth wouldn't have had such a high chance of success.
I haven't kept up with April the giraffe, but it doesn't surprise me what they're saying. What amazes me is how they legitimately believe that the calf would be better off being tossed out in the wild.
People love to get their scales in a bunch over everything. Looks to me like there's more than enough room for the calves. Seriously, PETA is throwing a tantrum over a perfectly healthy giraffe calf but didn't give a Seabiscuit over the poaching of Vincent the White Rhino.
