See, part of this problem is, from what I have seen is: Hostility begets hostility, and a good example is what I have seen in the war between this journal and the comments below, as well as other journal and comment wars in your gallery. I will admit you do get a bit...Pushy with your causes, and it's about the equivalent of forcing a dog into a new doghouse by shoving it when you do get a bit riled up over it. It, 90% of the time, will not happen because neither option seems okay.
Screaming about it endlessly will just have more on the other side screaming about it just as loud and incessantly. These loud and obnoxious gamers, despite being dickheads, are people too, and demonizing them and actively fighting them just riles them up further. Personally, I'd prefer to, instead of getting up on my soap box like a slab of meat waiting to be eaten up, I try to teach by example, in what I write, partially what I draw, and especially how I treat others in whatever I do. People respond better to not being dehumanized, usually. Yes, I do get burned a few times, but I have made many pleasant acquaintanceships and even lessened some of my bullying in high school (as opposed to the days I would charge after them, tell teachers that just did not listen, and tell others what these people would do) with this method. Ever hear of the story of the wind, the sun, and the traveler? Call me a passive-agressive cunt if you want.
For the record, I AM female, and I AM planning to go into an industry in art, whether it's video game design, comics, etc. (I'm going to go for a full degree once I can pay for art school.) I AM aware of the stigma on women in such industries, too.
Then again, since I don't want to stand on a soap box like everyone else involved in these scandals that are being eaten alive by 'gamers', my words likely mean nothing to you, just like the 'gamers' who say I'm not one of them because my preferred games consist of Pokemon, The Sims, and a myriad of Nintendo games, and the fact that I hate most FPS games.
And I know that actually saying something here seems to conflict a little, but this is my opinion on such a harsh view.
