Am i really viewing through hetero lens? Or was the creator so subtle with the hints they were almost nonexistent? Maybe, the creator was making the series through a "hetero lens" unable to believable show romance between to characters of the same sex.
All those 'hints' you mentioned earlier, i've noticed them the first time i saw it, re-watching would be redundant.

I'll admit, I'm a hard-core Korrasami shipper and even I thought they would go the "just friends" route with their interactions (mainly because I thought the censors would never let them get away with that kind of stuff, what with gay couples being illegal in certain countries and about half of the United States).  Still, there's a damn good reason why Korra wrote back to Asami rather than Mako or Bolin during her 2 and half year stay in the South Pole.

Of course, there is no doubt they are a couple, the creators made an official post telling all the confused fans about it. I'm a fan of this couple too, i just think it was underplayed.
This is mainly because they aired the whole season 4 online, there was no network television to censor them anymore, they could have done anything! If it weren't for that, then i would understand why they would make it so subtle.

Well, the Nickelodeon code of Standards and Practices still forbids "overt, same-sex relationships" in their shows (key word in this case being "overt"), so (like I said before) it's a damn miracle that Bryke was able to get away with what they did at all.  As for the subtle angle... well, that last minute of the finale where Korra and Asami entered the spirit portal together was LITERALLY the exact moment where their relationship with each other was officially upgraded from "besties" to "romantically involved."  On the upside, if there are any kind of bonus comics or whatnot that end up being made later on, the Korrasami relationship in those things will likely be more open and obvious to all.

Yea, but haven't they split up with Nickelodeon? From what i heard, since season 3 they aired them online. Doesn't that mean the Nickelodeon rules don't apply anymore?

While it is true that LoK stopped airing/premiering new episodes on television, the new episodes still premiered on Nick.com (Nickelodeon's official website) on the same Fridays they normally would've aired.
