You're partially right.
She has been dragging herself along, bleeding from all the wounds, and this is the final scene where she gathers up all the strength left in her body to try to raise up and touch the hand of an Intangible and Nonexistent God (for one last chance at getting help) right before she collapses into unconsciousness.
So I don't think it's necessary that she be closer to the ground.
