ohh yeah i forgot about the desktop hard Drives lol ... I assume u are on ubuntu. This is the ubuntu instructions.
1. Alt- F2
2. enter "gconf-editor" then run it
3. got to Apps-->nautilus-->desktop
4. Then uncheck or check stuff that u want to show up on your desktop.
