But being accused for closed-mindedness and actually being closed-minded are not the same. Being closed/narrow-minded means we are completely unwilling to listen to the opinions of others. Even in Scripture, notably Jesus and Paul, truths were preached to the people in ways they could understand, without offending them by not tolerating their beliefs or saying they were evil and would burn up (with the exception of the egocentric religious leaders that should have known better anyways).

In summary, clinging to truth is not the same as being narrow-minded. On the contrary, with the love of God comes the thirst for knowledge, including different worldviews. The Bible appeals to our intellect (Proverbs 2:6-7; 18:15).

I remember a while back my mother and I met a nondenominational lady with a touch of JW influence from her cousin. Though we do not agree with most of the Jehovah's Witnesses' beliefs, we listened to her patiently, both sides equally respecting each other, and the door was opened for the opportunity of having a bible study together. Though we never doubted Biblical doctrines, we still respected her beliefs and welcomed her for conversation without attacking her beliefs or speaking poorly of her cousin's religion. Our intention was to study the bible in search for the truth together, being as unbiased as possible.

Will we be shamed for our beliefs? Definitely. Will we be called terrible names and accused of nasty things? Of course. But if what we cling to is really the truth, we will not treat the world the same as the world treats us, regardless of what they do. ^^
