Thanks! I did a lot of layering, of thin oil glazes to get this look.

oh ok! not sure if that works with acrylics as well... have to try to paint in oil sooner or later

It can be done with acrylics, but I find it much easier in oil because it stays workable longer. I have seen people pull off this technique in acrylic, but only with the use of an acrylic retarder.
