Hahah, we seem to be so opposite about so many things about DW - I'm glad we don't feel the need to argue about it at least!
I'm very much pro- two-parters because they mean more conversations and slow poignant moments that are hard to fit into 50 minutes with all the action. Actually a lot of my favourite episodes from RTD era are two-parters as well.
Honestly I really disliked Amy after a few episodes in, and I disliked how at first Clara seemed to have the same dynamic, and part of the reasons I started liking Clara is how a lot of her development looks like Moffat learning how NOT to write Another Amy. (For the record, I don't think he's some awful misogynist as some people like to paint him, I just think that some of his female characters are a bit samey, but that happens to the best of us).
I'd like him to hold on to the role for a while!
I guess I'm just paranoid because it depends on so many different things apart from Peter wanting it - from BBC politics to sheer luck, since it's a physically demanding job even with all the 3D and stunts and stuff.
I honestly have no strong feelings about the part-human concept either way (I think he'd be 1/4 or 1/16 human then if that were true), I don't see how it changes anything. Though I do know it originates from the movie and that's hardly the best part of DW history (poor Paul McGann, I'm glad he got a part in the special, I hope he'll be on the show again sometime, maybe in another multiple Doctors special, time-wimey shit happens).
I do get a kick out of nods to older parts of the show, because early seasons of Moffat's era were more about HIS stuff plus FAMOUS Classic Who stuff rather than anything RTD brought in. I mean I like Moffat's writing, it's just that there were things I was missing badly.
My favourite Christmas special was The End of Time, no question! Donna's first episode (before she was even a companion) goes next, everything else felt kind of meh to me for different reasons. I guess I'm just sort of doomy-gloomy sad/dark humour sort of person, festive rarely cuts it for me. Buuut the Doctor cracking up at the head in the bag is something I want to see anyway, it made me think of one of my favourite cartoonists though I really doubt it's an intentional reference.
