I think it's the two-parters concept that I don't like, it gives us less stories overall and all the action happens in the second part, anyway. Only Heaven Sent/Hell Bent were very well made and balanced, but the rest, not so much.
I like the writing, generally, both in s8 and s9, it seems tighter and making more sense than Eleven's era writing - I think Moffat just lost the track of his own plots by the end of all his Eleven arches, and I really hope it won't get as convoluted with Twelve. -__-

I always loved Ten and Four, but yeah, I knew Twelve is going to be my Doctor the moment Peter was announced as Twelve. =) I sorta expect him to hold on to the role for a while, as he seems very reluctant to leave his favourite job. XD

I dislike the half-human concept somewhat fierce, actually. :D But Moffat seems to dislike it as well, so I have nothing to fear. XD

Nah, I love Christmas specials (except 'Narnia' one, that sucked) and I already know I'm going to love this year's special too. =) It looks fun and festive, a bit creepy, and has River in it - all of which I approve of. =)

Hahah, we seem to be so opposite about so many things about DW - I'm glad we don't feel the need to argue about it at least! :XD: I'm very much pro- two-parters because they mean more conversations and slow poignant moments that are hard to fit into 50 minutes with all the action. Actually a lot of my favourite episodes from RTD era are two-parters as well.

Honestly I really disliked Amy after a few episodes in, and I disliked how at first Clara seemed to have the same dynamic, and part of the reasons I started liking Clara is how a lot of her development looks like Moffat learning how NOT to write Another Amy. (For the record, I don't think he's some awful misogynist as some people like to paint him, I just think that some of his female characters are a bit samey, but that happens to the best of us).

I'd like him to hold on to the role for a while! :D I guess I'm just paranoid because it depends on so many different things apart from Peter wanting it - from BBC politics to sheer luck, since it's a physically demanding job even with all the 3D and stunts and stuff.

I honestly have no strong feelings about the part-human concept either way (I think he'd be 1/4 or 1/16 human then if that were true), I don't see how it changes anything. Though I do know it originates from the movie and that's hardly the best part of DW history (poor Paul McGann, I'm glad he got a part in the special, I hope he'll be on the show again sometime, maybe in another multiple Doctors special, time-wimey shit happens). :XD: I do get a kick out of nods to older parts of the show, because early seasons of Moffat's era were more about HIS stuff plus FAMOUS Classic Who stuff rather than anything RTD brought in. I mean I like Moffat's writing, it's just that there were things I was missing badly.

My favourite Christmas special was The End of Time, no question! Donna's first episode (before she was even a companion) goes next, everything else felt kind of meh to me for different reasons. I guess I'm just sort of doomy-gloomy sad/dark humour sort of person, festive rarely cuts it for me. Buuut the Doctor cracking up at the head in the bag is something I want to see anyway, it made me think of one of my favourite cartoonists though I really doubt it's an intentional reference. :)

I prefer more episodes rather than longer episodes. Although I could go with 13 separate long episodes. XD

I learned to absolutely hate Amy with time, which I regret. She seemed like such a cool character at first, but then she was just annoying. I was dying to see another companion and was ready to love Clara without even seeing her, just because she wasn't Amy. And I wasn't disappointed. =) Clara's on par with Donna for me, in terms of coolness and my love towards them. =)

Part-human concept seems incredibly cheesy to me. Like, what is the point/reason/logic in it? The Doctor was never described as anything other than pure Time Lord - hell, Time Lords don't even reproduce through sex, it's all genetic manipulation and the Matrix, so where is this human thing even fits? Sorry I'm annoying you here, away from Tumblr, I just really do not get the idea. XD

Oh, definitely, EoT is the best thing ever! As well as Donna's one, but I just adore Donna. =D
S8 Christmas special was rather dark, though, wasn't it? ;)

Oh, which cartoonist?

The more the better, definitely! :dummy:

Yeah, I like Amy as a kid who believed in the Doctor, because I think it was cute and must have resonated with a lot of younger watchers of the show. I definitely didn't like Amy that followed, the way she treated Rory, the way that whole triangle dynamic worked. I think I like Donna a bit more simply because of how Donna was but I liked a lot of things about Clara, and I liked how she went out (I'm not sure how I feel about her travelling with Me but I guess time working again means she did return to face the raven in the end, I don't think she'd want to travel with Me forever anyway).

No worries, you aren't annoying me. It WOULD be illogical - but not more illogical than a lot of things that happened on the show, so if there was some good story to go with it I'd eat it up. But again, it's a matter of personal preferences - the reason I dislike the s8 Christmas special is because of how illogical it was, and how black and white - everyone is either BEYOND HELP or is saved without a scratch, nobody ever gets brain damage or other injury they would have to live with (and I know people might say it's a weird thing to ask from a show kids watch, but it's not "scarier" than any other stuff). I dunno how to explain it, I eat up an episode about the Moon being an egg because I think it's a good story about conflicts and choices and rights to make certain choices, and then I grind my teeth at lack of brain damage from face-sucking monsters or an older sister being found in a bush with no explanation whatsoever. I guess I could try analysing more episodes to make a pattern of where I draw the line but it'd be an essay and again, it would only explain my personal tastes rather than "prove" anything. :XD:

John Callahan! :D You might have seen his cartoon series Quads and he just had this recurring character who was a head so I instantly thought of this though I probably shouldn't expect this line of humour in a Christmas special. =P

Yeah, part-human Doctor is where _I_ draw the line XD  Basically, I can accept unrealistic things, as long they're not completely idiotic and can be explained in some way (by viewers too, not necessarily by the show). For example, Sleep No More annoyed the hell out of me simply because the monster was too bloody stupid to get into the story and its twists. No brain damage - okay, maybe that alien lobster was really gentle or something, but a sentient monster made of eye crust? Noooo. XD

Wow, now that's dark. XD Yeah, I doubt they'll go anywhere near that level of black humour. :D

Ah, I feel the same about Sleep No More. I kind of came to terms with it as some sort of "trolling" episode after I watched it a second time but yeah, that's a ridiculous monster concept, there was a million ways to make a similar but slightly less ridiculous story...

BUT THE HEAD, THEY ALREADY HAVE A TALKING HEAD, MIGHT AS WELL GO THE WHOLE WAY (no, I know they won't too)! :XD:
