I expect BBI might push a little further with DoK before thinking up a HW3. But yes, I think HW3 will be set in space again, maybe during the age of S'jet.

I agree with you there. It would also be fun to see a storyline that sounds less definitive than HM2's ending. Something that provide a better sense of a living/breathing world the same way HM1 and Cataclysm did.

HW2 I think was a little haphazard on delivery. The game was rushed pretty badly from what I hear.

I think it was Rob who said he wanted to do age of S'jet. Since one of the head creatives has said this, and since it flies in the face of the era of peace suggested at the end of HW2, I'm guessing that the narrator was being optimistic at the end of Homeworld 2. We'll see!

And it shows, truly. What is a shame because there were several good ideas thrown in but never truly capitalized on.

Maybe, it could be said that that was the feeling of the general in-universe populace at the end of the Vaygr war. They could spin on it by saying that sometime afterwards reality ensued and things got complicated.

We shall see, right?

A lot of people didn't like the mystical angle with the hyperspace cores and the realization of destiny and all that. I think had Relic had more time they could have polished this to make it less outrageous to some fans. I like what we got, but I know it doesn't work with everyone.

But like DoK changing some things, HW3 can retroactively clarify things as well. For DoK, I like the feature the farjumper apparently has of messing up hyperspace for local travel. I think that speaks to something special about the cores, more than just their need to be plugged into Sajuuk. Hopefully a DoK expansion can clarify a little bit what exactly went on with the Khar-Toba's core, and HW3 can explain how/why they are more significant than normal cores.

I think the main issue is a matter of tone. Although mytical, the first two games had a very no-nonsense charm to them. I'm with you here, I think they simply needed more time to polish those ideas with HW2. This in a conceptual level. I also think that the dynamic difficulty actually punishes the players who do well, but that might simply be me being whiny.

Your ideas are actually quite good here. An expansion or plain sequel with DoK could flesh out what needs to be known about the past and HW3 would plunge us into a more fleshed-out future. I would love to see that, indeed. :)

I don't know how they going to continue the plot after HW2.
