Gotta know lol. The detail work on the scabbard, pommel, and guard...and the blade fuller as well.

I'm sure the designs are probably an image map. But I don't understand how you got it the same gold texture as the rest. Does it have a build in cutout and reflection mapping in the texture that you can just plug the image map into?

The pattern on the blade was done in 3D, it's not an image.

For the rest,
on blender, there are many ways to use a texture. One of them is displacement (in Material Output, in the node tree).
When you attach a picture to "displacement", and you set the placement of the image to the object, you get a relief effect on the material (Without changing the object).
It's connected to the material, but does not affect the parameters of the material (color, gloss, transparency, ...) which are themselves connected to the "surface" of Material Output. The two are independent. It's like putting a fabric on a warped surface, the form changes, but no the material.

I not know if I am very clear, without knowing the software, i may seem Chinese speaking ^^
