Probably, but I'm seeing far too much soft-headedness in the young these days and I'm guessing it comes from people who never had to kill and clean an animal for food, or who are more than one generation away from it.
I believe it's simply people who don't dwelve enough in the genre. Neither me nor my parents have hunt, but I don't mind gore in stories (unless it's unjustified, you know, gore for gore's sake), and I believe that is because I'm used to see it in the media I watch.
