Ok but what if someone goes around saying trans people for instance are not natural and need to accept the sex they are born as, not entirely dsngerous by itself, but over time the message leads hundreds of trans people to suicide and incurable mental disorders such as depression and anxiety, it should be noted words are as dangerous as actions and acting in such a way and talking in such away about people is as dangerous as having a loaded gun

There's Nothing Wrong With Being Trans! by TheArtFrog

Censorship would only lead to dark times indeed, and potentially a lot more grief and suffering and suicides in the long run. Freedom of speech is the best weapon against itself. If someone says that it's not natural, then others can stand up against that and say otherwise, and debate it until the truth comes out and they realise how natural it actually is.

Freedom of speech actually doesn't cover true hate speech or defamation or anything like that. If someone says it's unnatural, while offensive, they have every right to say so, but if they start spouting just plain hatred, then they can get in trouble for that.

i don't see how preventing any type of hate speech towards any group would be "dark times" considering what it is now with so many lgbt people dying, other races dying etc because of "freedom of speech" people may not be directly saying "Kill these types of people" but they treat them like such garbage until they do it themselves, so tell me again how "freedom of speech" should be protected

Freedom Of Speech is Under Attack!Hello fellow deviants and internet-goers.
I would like to bring us together, to unite us as a community in discussion about an important topic.
I don't mean to bring fear, that's not my intent. I simply want to get people talking. Why you ask? It's because...

Freedom of Speech is becoming an endangered right. We need to save it.
Please fave :+fav: this journal if you support it, and share it on any and every social media you can if you want to help spread the word.

 #SaveFreeSpeech   #ShallNotBeSilenced
It's time we start a real movement to save our right to speak up about things.
You can help by writing your own journals about it, posting videos about it on Youtube, posting about it on Facebook, using Twitter to talk about it...
Please! Write! Talk! Discuss! Openly debate and argue it! We NEED to speak up!
The only way we can protect free speech is by speaking up about it's erosion in

Maybe this'll help shed light on the matter.

Too many things that aren't hate speech are being censored as such nowadays, and we shouldn't censor things that some people find offensive either.
Freedom Of Speech Is A Human Right by TheArtFrog  Some Opinions Are Harmful But... by TheArtFrog  I'd Rather Live In a World With Full Free Speech by TheArtFrog

I'm sorry but freedom of speech is a basic human right.
Human Rights are Not Debatable by TheArtFrog
Without it we can't have healthy and open discussion as a society about things that, while they may be hard to hear, we really need to discuss. We can't just censor criticism of religion or sociopolitical problems just because some idiots might take offence to it.

Questioning the flawed beliefs of certain religions is not being "-phobic" to said religion.
Criticising the Black Lives Matter movement is not being racist.

Without free speech, we could soon end up living in a society where common sense is censored while cult-like ideologies can run amok.

Freedom of speech doesn't allow harassment or real hate speech, since people also have the right to freedom from discrimination. But we need to have less vagueness surrounding the laws concerning it. Mislabelling things that aren't hate speech as hate speech, calling things racist when they're not and censoring conservative and right wing views just because people disagree with them is ruining our society and making a scary political climate where anyone can be silenced when they're simply making valid points and that is very messed up indeed.

ok but you arent getting what i'm saying, i've attempted suicide, i've known people who have committed suicide because they were made to feel like garbage for being gay, black, etc. if that makes me an "idiot" because HUNDREDS of people, and all i see day in and day out is people saying shit like "lgbt people are immoral, god doesn't want them ,they are nothing but lustful sinful, they can't feel love, etc" or better yet when people fight to deny my rights as a human being you cant tell me the freedom of speech is a good and just thing when the majority of people use it against people like me and hurt us with it endlessly.
MadKingFroggy's avatar
I'm sorry to hear that.

That's why we have freedom of speech. So we can send counter-arguments to people spouting such bullsh*t to show society what is truly right:

And also, I think these explain it better.

Free speech doesn't mean we have to put up with people advocating human rights abuses. There is a fine line. Unfortunately these days people keep trying to move that line to simply being free from offence, which is just wrong.
Real hate speech isn't actually under free speech, as it conflicts with the right to be free from discrimination.

so i should just be ok with people saying whatever the fuck they want to people like me and be ok with being justly offended by such beliefs and behavior in the name of "freedom" if you ask me that is already asking minority groups to be imprisoned in their own country, unsafe in the areas and people they live with and around that are assholes.

Sorry but you do not have the right not to be offended. You can't try to destroy free speech where you see fit just so you can feel a little more comfortable. You have to step out of your comfort zone at some point in your life.

There will always be a**holes in life, but you'll just have to deal with them. If they threaten real violence against you, then you can call the authorities.
You may hear harsh things from people but it's simply a matter of dealing with things as an adult. Sometimes people will tell you harsh truths that maybe you ought to be listening to, and sometimes people will spout complete bullsh*t that you don't have to listen to. You know there's nothing wrong with being who you are, and don't listen to anyone tell you otherwise. You don't need to censor people, just simply ignore them. :)
