Yes, indeed. I grew up and studied in what they call 'East Germany' in the English speaking world. The center of Europe unfortunately has been reduced to almost a spiritual nonentity in the sad course of the 20th century, however, Nature, at times still radiates and so do the people thanks to the true Central European impulse, which was supposed to be a combination of German and Slavic energies. I did visit Poland several times, as a teenager I had a pen pal in the center of the country.
