Yup it has been asked before and answered  also right at the end of the journal "The #3 custom box on the groups page with the Trials/training/classes counts as official activities"

Once you complete any sort of training, to the point where you cant do anything else/receive anything else, you have finished it and can receive 1 level. Finishing social training means you received the special markings = 1 lvl. Training a companion and having them reach lvl 100 also = 1 lvl. So if you companion you are training has yet to reach lvl 100 you can still get a 1 lvl for them here when they are done.
