Welp, im not the artist of this but I draw similar shit so maybe I can weigh in a little: It's a fetish. Or a kink. Whatever you wanna call it. It's not really explicit per se though, so DeviantArt allows it and has for years.
For various reasons some people find weight gain/fat attractive. Some people prefer fat people in general, some people just think it's cute, some think it's sexy, etc.... there's not really one reason other than it's a kink that most (a good 90% or more I'd say, really) artists of the sort have to some degree, though the exact specifics aren't the same for everyone.
Fundamentally it's not too much different than someone who finds muscles (as an example) attractive drawing people with big muscles, but muscles are a little more socially acceptable than fat :^p

Oh, I see! Well as long as its not explicit it doesn't really bother me too much ^_^ Thank you so much for explaining it, makes much more sense now lol. I'm not a major fan of this sort of thing or fetishes in general though, just curious about the popularity mostly.
