Well, Sylvester was a Friz Freleng creation, and it's the persona that Freleng created for him (hungry, desperate, and shortsighted) that people remember most about him. Although I will admit, Jones did do a series of cartoons that featured Sylvester as Porky's frightened pet cat - "Scaredy Cat" (1948), "Claws For Alarm" (1954), and "Jumpin' Jupiter" (1955). And of course, Jones also cast Sylvester in the role of the villainous Grand Duke in 1950's "The Scarlet Pumpernickel".
